Wildlife

Providing food, water and a place to raise young, St. Philip’s Academy has been designated a Wildlife Backyard Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. St. Philip’s Academy students have the opportunity to be involved with a variety of wildlife viewing opportunities. Linked with Cornell Lab of Ornithology every fall, students participate in data collecting of migratory birds through the Newark Area. In this unique urban setting we have already documented over 30 species that call St. Philip’s home. Some of our very special guests that have made St. Philip’s a stopping point are an American Kestrel, Woodcock and Hummingbird moth!
